Why We Love It
1. The Seneca. Just built less than 2 years ago, this 5-level split floor plan from Schottenstein Homes has a great layout for keeping everyone together when entertaining... but still gives you options to separate when you need a little space. The great room and kitchen are completely open to each other and they have a direct line of site to the large dining area and foyer. These three spaces are where your guests always seem to gather. When you feel the need to separate from the group, you have a front den/living room that can be closed off, a large loft area upstairs for another media space, and if you're not using the Down1 level as a fifth bedroom, it could serve as another family room.
2. Beds & Baths. Five true bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and one powder room are a combination that isn't readily available in this price range. The owner's suite obviously has its own bathroom with a large shower, double vanity, and a walk in closet. The top level has three more bedrooms and another full bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have "Jack and Jill" access to the bathroom while the third can access it from the hallway. Down one level from the main floor is where we find the fifth bedroom; still above grade with a window looking out to the backyard. This room has its own full bathroom as well and is large enough to serve as another living or media space if you don't need the fifth bedroom full time.
3. The Options. We're big fans of the options chosen by these homeowners when they built this home. The list includes some things you might take for granted like a fireplace or recessed lighting and spaces you'll come to love like the Bonus Room (loft), Study, and Bedroom 5. That extra bedroom comes with another bathroom but it wasn't the only bathroom option chosen as they also upgraded to Deluxe Bath 1 in the owner's suite and Jack and Jill on the top level. With all of these bedrooms, you may find yourself needing extra storage... but we have you covered there with the Full Basement and four foot Garage Bump Out. Three and a half bathrooms means you could have three showers running at once; good thing you'll have the Extra Hot Water Tank option keeping you warm.
What You Need To Know
If you've read many of my Property Stories in the past, you know I tend to get a little long-winded and with large homes like this one... that can lead to a post that rivals War and Peace. So I'll promise to keep it fairly brief while hitting you with some basics... you'll promise to come see the home in person... and we'll all be happier for it.
Entry Level: The front door opens to a foyer with a convenient little bench for getting those shoes on and off. A knee wall and column help visually separate this entry from the open dining room next to it. The durable laminate floors in this space have a hand scraped look to them to add some character.
This area leads to just about every other space in the home: To the front, double doors allow you to hide the clutter of your home office or the mess of a playroom [whichever you have a need for], the main level powder room is next to the study, entry to the garage is next to the powder room, steps up and down are located next to the garage entry, and the great room - kitchen combos lie just beyond the staircase.
The great room features large windows across the back, a corner fireplace, and recessed lighting. A breakfast bar and change in flooring are the only things separating the living space and kitchen. Highlights of your eat-in kitchen are granite counter tops, pendant lights, stainless steel appliances, and beautiful dark stained cabinetry. This room is open concept living at its best.
Up +1: A short trip up the steps brings you to your private level owner's suite. This is where you can close the doors and take a break from the madness of the workday... or the madness occurring on the other four levels. As mentioned above, your en suite was upgraded to include a double vanity and a five foot shower with dual shower heads.
Up +2: Head up one more level and you find a huge loft with multiple areas. There is a nook that's perfect for a computer or homework desk and large bonus room area that serves as a second living room or media space.
Three bedrooms and another full bathroom (Jack and Jill) sit on the opposite side of the staircase.
Since there is a good chance that most of the dirty laundry is coming from this level, the laundry room is conveniently located up here too.
Summarizing this level: three bedrooms, a full bath, laundry room, homework/desk nook, and space for another TV, couch, or toy chests. If you can sing every word to the theme songs of Gravity Falls or Elena of Avalor like me, I'm sure you're tripping over yourself to come see this home.
Down -1: This level typically houses the rec room of the 5-level split but our homeowners chose to upgrade it to the fifth bedroom option. This added a door, closet, and another full bathroom. It's perfect if you have an immediate need for that fifth bed or if you want to give overnight guests their own level and a private bathroom to use. Because it's a large and open room, there is nothing keeping you from still using it as rec room if you don't need the sleeping space.
Down -2: The upgraded full basement provides TONS of storage space. If you're looking to keep all five bedrooms and still add a rec room other than the top level loft, you'll have plenty of space to add it down here.
Exterior: The backyard is already enclosed with a low maintenance vinyl fence. You still have a large side yard outside of the fence because the home is situated on a corner lot in Anderson Meadows.
If you want to stretch your legs a little more, there is a path around the corner that leads to Darby Creek and Alton Darby Elementary schools and you're also just a few steps away from the Clover Groff Natural Area.
