Why We Love It
1. Popular Options. There are a few features of this home that will be useful for years to come... namely, the first floor owner's suite, third car garage, and the finished basement. I don't know about you, but my knees aren't getting any younger so not having to climb the steps to go to my bedroom sounds pretty appealing. But that doesn't mean your guests or anyone else living in the home shouldn't be able to take their noise upstairs or downstairs to the finished basement 😉 Even if you don't have a third car, I'm willing to bet that extra garage space could come in handy for bikes, toys, sporting equipment, lawnmowers, or a workshop.
2. Location. Driving down the tree lined main road of the Highland Lakes Community, you can’t help but notice the paved paths filled with joggers, walkers, and groups out for a bike ride. This peaceful and well maintained community feels more like a park than a neighborhood. The bonus of this neighborhood is that you are just a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of Polaris Parkway and the new Ikea, or if you want more outdoorsy adventures, you can hit the links at the Lakes Country Club or drop by Alum Creek or Hoover Reservoir for some fantastic water views.
3. Open Kitchen-Great Room. This is one large, open space. The vaulted ceilings soar high above both rooms - but at different heights - which creates a nice visual and adds some architectural interest to the space. The large great room is anchored by a gas fireplace and it flows into the informal eating space off the kitchen. A half wall gives a bit of separation between the living area and your kitchen with granite counter tops, travertine backs plash, and stainless steel appliances that include a slide-in range.
What You Need To Know
This home is located in the popular Highland Lakes Community, in the Estates subdivision. The mature trees and park-like settings set this neighborhood apart, yet you are only a few minutes away from “The Corner” as our homeowners like to call it... the intersection of Polaris Parkway/Maxtown and State St. With a large variety of restaurants and stores to choose from you don’t have to travel far to find a little entertainment, grab a bite to eat, or pick up a late night loaf of bread to finish making tomorrow's lunches.
Pulling up to the house you will notice the nicely landscaped yard (easily watered by your built-in sprinkler system), newly paved driveway and the all important 3rd car garage. If you were paying attention when you turned into the Estates subdivision, there weren’t too many homes with a 3rd car garage.
First Floor: Once through the front door you are welcomed into a large entryway with vaulted ceilings that flow throughout the first floor. To your left, options begin with a room that could be used for a formal dining area or a home office with large windows that flood the room with natural light.
Past the front entry closet you come to the heart of the home; the kitchen and great room that are perfect for entertaining. The updated kitchen boasts real wood cabinets, updated stainless steel appliances (including a 5 burner gas stove & electric double oven with digital controls), a double door pantry, granite counter tops and a travertine back splash.
Directly off the kitchen is an eating area that opens up to the great room with loads of natural light and a gas fireplace with mantle surround. You may not have noticed, but the entire house has built in speakers for audio and surround sound.
Off the great room is the 1st floor laundry (washer & dryer to stay), with real wood cabinets and a utility sink. Next to this room is the powder room.
Vaulted ceilings continue into your first floor owner's suite, large enough to hold a king size bed and matching furniture with plenty of room to spare. Through the double doors you will find your private bath, with a linen closet, walk-in closet, stand alone shower, soaking tub, dual vanities, and a separate water closet with additional storage shelves.
Second Floor: Up the open baluster stairs is a large loft that's perfect for a home office, play room, additional TV area, homework space, etc. Whatever need you have can be easily attained in this large space. There are two more bedrooms and a full size bathroom with dual vanities to finish out this level.
Basement: The finished basement gives you approximately 639 square feet of additional living space. The theme of options continues down here, whether you are a movie fan and want a theater room, a sports fan and want space to hang your favorite team memorabilia, or just need an additional living space for when you entertain, this basement is here for you. The current homeowners are even going to give you a head start on the fun by leaving the pool table for you.
In addition to plenty of living space there is also a ton of storage and a workshop that the current owner created and is leaving for the next “tinkerer” to come along and enjoy.
Exterior: The tree-lined backyard is a blank canvas. Our homeowners decided to spend the money they were going to use on a deck and invest it in a whole-home natural gas generator that will be staying with the property. It provides the type of peace of mind that most people want... but few want to spend money for. That peace of mind is already in place for you.
We can’t forget about the 3-car garage which again, gives you those options that you need. Whether you have a car for that 3rd spot, or you utilize it for the extra storage for your lawn equipment, and outdoor toys, it's hard to pass up a bonus like that.
