A Lot to Appreciate
Hoover Park -- SOLD
$244,900 | 4 Bed | 2 Full / 2 Half Bath | 2,182 SqFt (Plus Basement)
Why We Love It
1. Lot Location. This home has a corner lot right next to the neighborhood park and is located in the always popular Hoover Park. Being a corner lot, made it easier to feature a side-load garage allowing for more green space and landscaping on the front of the home . But what I really love is the backyard of this home. The wide lot has mature trees where I could picture a hammock - under the canopy and next to the pond - for a short afternoon nap. The yard does not stop there; it features a large multi-level deck with a gazebo, great for barbecuing or visiting with your guests. There is also a stamped concrete walkway leading to the side. It's all topped off with lots of flower beds, a small pond with a bridge, and it overlooks the natural park area across the street.
2. The Kitchen Hub. My favorite area of this home is the kitchen. As you enter you will hear yourself say “WOW”. It is the hub of the entry level and features large area with stylish cabinets, granite counters, large island, under-mount lighting, and all the kitchen appliances were updated in 2014. The room also has a eat-in area that is completely open to the family room. The back of the home faces SW so natural light flows into the rooms and you get a great view of the fantastic backyard too.
3. Updates Galore. The owners have completed over $42,000 in upgrades (which are listed individually below) to improve and maintain the home. The home has every update you would want; kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, and finished basement. The home is truly move in ready. From the elegant dark oak on the stair treads and 2nd floor hallway to the finished basement that has an individual space for an office area and half bath. The remainder of the finished basement is a big rec room with plenty of space for couches, a TV, and chairs to watch movies or read. The basement updates also included a radon system, emergency backup sump pump, and has gas hook-ups to easily move the portable heater in from the garage in case of long electrical outages.
What You Need To Know
This Hoover Park home has everything; location, quality upgrades, and a fabulous backyard. Being a corner lot, the homeowners added a side load garage which allows the front of the home to have a unique design compared to other homes in the neighborhood. I love flower beds and the front of the home has tasteful flower beds.
The inside of the home is just incredible. As you enter the front door, you can follow a ceramic tile hallway past the half bath and into the kitchen or head to the living room on the right.
The living and dining rooms have updated Brazilian rosewood flooring. While the living room is separate from the kitchen you can still have a conversation with anyone in the “hub” of the home. The dining room has plenty of space for your formal table and hutch and the space gets a visual lift from a custom tray ceiling.
I already told you about my favorite space (the kitchen) which is open to the family room. This is large area and has an updated back door and patio overhang, completed in 2015. The family room is a great area to relax and share the happenings of the day or watch your favorite show. The windows on this side look out to the mature trees of the neighboring park area.
The 1st floor utility room has plenty of area for the washer & dryer, has a large folding counter, and deep utility sink.
The stairway to the second floor is updated with a custom oak hardwood flooring and it flows throughout the second floor hallway; connecting the four bedrooms and two full baths.
The master bedroom is large with vaulted ceilings, a walk-in closet, and a custom en-suite. The flooring in this room has also been updated. The master bathroom was completely updated in 2014 and features dual vanities, ceramic tile flooring, and a custom ceramic tile shower. The other three bedrooms are each large in size and closet space. They share the second full bath on this floor.
The basement was finished in 2009 with a separate space for a custom office area and half bath. The remainder of the finished basement is used as a rec room. The current owners use a portion of this space as their exercise area but have plenty of space for couch, TV, and chairs to watch movies and read. There is also an area for storage and ¼ of the basement is a sealed crawlspace. The basement updates also included a radon system, emergency backup sump pump, and have gas hook-ups to easily move the portable heater from the garage in case of long electrical outages.
Your new backyard will be a popular gathering spot for summer get-togethers because you can count on having enough space for everyone. The deck is large, has a partially covered gazebo, some built-in seating, and a planter box so you can add some color and texture. It steps down to a yard that is already pretty large... but it feels even bigger thanks to the trees on the property and across the street.
The homeowner had the two car attached garage fully insulated (including the garage door) so it could be heated with a portable gas heater. The basement has been plumbed to easily move this heater to the basement if an emergency arrives
