Why We Love It
1. Kitchen. Put brand new white cabinetry, black stainless steel appliances, and granite counter tops into any kitchen and they look nice. But put them into a 1950's built brick ranch and something about it makes it even nicer. I don't know if it's the stark contrast to the original feel of the home, or if it's just unexpected, or something else all together... but I love it. If your budget doesn't fit a huge chef's kitchen, you might as well make the footprint you have beautiful. This... is beautiful.
2. Floors. The home's original hardwood floors run through the living room and bedrooms. They have been recently sanded and refinished with a very nice, warm stain. You may have to do a double take when you see them because they look so nice that they don't appear to be over 50 years old. We also really like the way they look set against the clean white trim and modern grey walls.
3. Basement. The great thing about the size of the ranch homes in this neighborhood is that you don't waste any space. These aren't your McMansions that take way to long to keep clean. That said, it's always nice to have a little extra living space in a finished basement where you can be a little more comfortable. Right at the bottom of the basement steps is another 220 square feet room that you can utilize as a family room, rec room, media center, etc. The way it's laid out still allows you to have plenty of storage in 2 other areas of the basement... but keep it out of sight.
