The Hampshire - Westport Homes
Why We Love It
1. Functional Layout. It's not hard to figure out why this floor plan is so popular. The great room is open to the kitchen, allowing everyone to be together whether you're hosting a party or just grabbing a snack on movie night. If you choose to add the sunroom off the kitchen (as seen below), your space to entertain grows even larger. Need a quiet corner for your office? No problem; the Hampshire provides one. Want a large loft for a reading nook or a "teen suite"? The second floor has room to spare. The Hampshire takes a little from the old traditional floor plans (that were too closed off), a little from the new modern floor plans (that can be too wide open), and combines them in a way that works better for today's preferred lifestyles.
2. 3 Car Garage Standard. We generally find that homeowners looking for nearly 3,000 square feet of living space are usually the same ones who need a 3 car garage. It doesn't matter if it's for an extra vehicle, bicycles and sports equipment, or table saws and tools... I don't think we've ever heard someone complain about having too much room in their garage. You don't have to worry about how much more this feature will cost because Westport has included it in the base model.
3. Owner's Suite. Did you see the owner's suite in the model? Wow. And it's large enough for you to go get that California King you've been wanting! The tray ceiling lifts your eye just enough to expand your vision but not so much that your room loses its coziness. Your private bathroom gets a little separation with a hallway (late sleepers who share a room with early risers will appreciate that) and its optional 5' shower with bench will ruin you from ever taking a shower in a standard size stall again. A soaking tub can be added if you're a bath taker and the walk-in closet has room for days.
What You Need To Know
This floor plan is available as new build construction.
Base Specs: 2,858 Square Feet | 2 Story | 4 Bedrooms | 2½ Bathrooms | 3 Car Garage
The 2-story Hampshire has a flexible floor plan with plenty of options.
Upon entering the home, you're flanked by a formal dining room with available touches like tray ceilings and wainscoting.
The foyer gives way to a large family room that is open to the kitchen. If you choose to have a fireplace in this central gathering spot, you'll have a couple of options for placement. The standard size of this generous family room is 17'8" x 19'3" and there is an option for a 6' room extension.
With the addition of a few options like "Cabinets in lieu of Pantry", a kitchen island, and the "Sunroom off Kitchen", you can take an already impressive kitchen and turn it into the entertaining hub of your dreams. Choose the right kitchen table for your informal eating and it's easy to picture the layers of 4 separate spaces all blending as one. No more being isolated while you prepare dinner or pausing the movie when someone wants a refill; although each space has its own defined boundaries, they all fit together seamlessly.
With access to the garage, basement, powder room, den, and kitchen... the mudroom is going to be busy space for the homeowners. This hallway of sorts usually gets cluttered with laundry because it's become a popular spot to connect your washer and dryer, but with the laundry room being located upstairs, you have an opportunity to keep your clutter minimized. Add a "Boot Bench" and some coat hooks and give that clutter some style. This back location of the den insulates you a bit from the noise of the living area... or maybe it can insulate the noise of a toy room from the peace and quiet of the living area. We'll leave that decision up to you.
At the top of the stairs on the 2nd level, you find a rather large loft (11'1" x 15'4") and the central laundry room. The loft is a great place for a sitting room, game area, homework nook, teen suite, reading room, you name it. The laundry room location means you don't have to carry those baskets up and down the steps anymore.
At a size of 19'3" x 12'11", your owner's suite will become you're own little retreat. The tray ceiling adds a layer a of height to an already large room and with options like the "Deluxe Master Bath" or the 5' Shower stall, you're probably going to be making your hot water tank earn its money. Toss in the double vanity, large walk-in closet, and separate linen closet and you have the bathroom you've always wanted.
Bedrooms 2, 3, and 4 are located on the opposite side of the staircase and they flank their own shared bathroom. The smallest of the spare bedrooms is still as large as the master bedroom of some homes.
A long list of features and available options is available upon request.
