Why We Love It
1. The Living Spaces. With over 3,000 sqft of living space on two levels, there is a zone to keep everyone happy. A huge formal living/dining area greet your guests at the door and because these two spaces are completely open to each other, you're going to be the first nominee to host every holiday get-together (sorry). The large loft upstairs is the perfect spot for a teen suite, play room, craft zone, or a second living room. Custom built-in shelving frames the double window up here and a knee wall (instead of balusters) helps conceal any potential mess. The huge great room and kitchen are where you'll spend most of your time... and both spaces are worthy of that attention (more on that later). A large patio awaits you out back for your summer fun and if all of that isn't enough, the home has a full basement waiting for expansion.
2. The Amazing Kitchen. The kitchen is the star among stars in this home. You don't just get granite counter tops... you get Level 5 granite. You don't just get an island... you get an island with a built-in wine fridge and vegetable sink. Speaking of sinks... both are nice, deep, Blanco sinks. Did you see the custom paint on the cabinetry? And how about the floors, bead board wainscoting, and higher profile baseboards that also carry through much of the first floor? The huge pantry, work station, undermount lighting, and ceiling speakers? If you said yes to all, you've got a great eye... but I bet you didn't know that your trash can is neatly hidden into a pull out drawer in the island! They thought of everything.
3. The Yard. If you've read many of my past Property Stories, you know I love a good backyard and this one sits high on the list. Your lot is nearly half an acre in size and it feels even larger because you have two different fields located behind you. When you go out back in the summer, and the corn stalks are growing high, you'll forget that you're even located in a neighborhood. The patio is large enough for multiple zones and there is a custom pergola for your swing. It's a great place to sit and watch the dogs run without the distraction of a picket fence blocking your view because an invisible fence has already been installed. You can keep the yard clutter free because there is a large shed that has electricity and an alarm run to it. So take my advice and invest in some comfortable patio furniture and you can spend more time sitting outside watching the deer, instead of watching your neighbors.
What You Need To Know
This 2-story home was just built in 2005 but has already received numerous updates.
First Floor: Stepping into the home, you immediately notice the beautiful laminate floors the Sellers added in 2010. They are a dead ringer for hardwood but you dog-lovers will appreciate their resiliency. This first space is an open combination of both a formal dining and formal living room. Those two rooms in most homes tend to be on the smaller side and therefore don't get much use. With this open concept, you'll find yourself using the space more frequently when guests stop by. You should also take notice of the higher profile trim that was added and the speakers in the ceiling that also appear throughout the house and even outside.
One archway leads you past the pantry and laundry before opening to the kitchen; the other archway leads you past a closet and half bath before opening to the kitchen.
We spoke more about the kitchen above but feel it should definitely be mentioned again because this room is a show stopper. It's beautiful, it's functional, and it's large... but my favorite thing about it is how well thought-out it is. Everything has a place... even the workstation for the kitchen desk. Take note of the doors leading to the patio; the sidelights open to allow a perfect cross breeze in the summer when you open the front window as well (screens are available... just removed for winter).
The kitchen opens to your family room... and it is big. Roughly 18' x 21' with a corner fireplace, your furniture arrangement has many options. The flooring here is a California shag carpet to make it a little more comfortable while you settle in for a little Netflix. This room and the kitchen both have great views of the backyard so your indoor/outdoor parties stay connected.
Second Floor: At the top of the stairs you find probably the best use of a loft that I've ever seen. Custom shelving (with lights) have been built-in to frame around the windows and vaulted ceilings rise up to make the space feel open. Options abound for how you can use this area... including adding a 5th bedroom.
If you don't already have an owner's suite where you can escape the craziness of the day... you will when you move in to here. The vaulted ceilings of the loft carry into your retreat making a large room feel even larger. Separate walk-in closets await you down a hallway that also leads to your private bathroom with a special alcove just for your soaking tub.
Three more bedrooms are located up here as well. Closet space and bathroom time should be less of a concern here because there are plenty of closets, a full bath located off the hallway, and a full bath located in one of the bedrooms. This home would be perfect for someone looking for dual masters or if you have frequent guests that would appreciate a private bathroom.
Basement: The basement is unfinished so there isn't too much to say here... except that IT IS HUGE. In its current state, it's perfect for storage or a workshop but with a little finishing, you could add an amazing rec room and expand your finished living space to more than 4,000 sqft.
Backyard: We spoke more in depth about the yard earlier but please don't overlook this feature. There are plenty of homes out there that are updated or large or both... but not many that are both of those and feature a great yard like this one.
