Camp Wissalohican

Why We Love It

History

Camp Wissalohican, “Camp “to the locals, was originally built in the early 1900s for fisherman. Over the years these cabins were converted to homes for use as full-time residences. Now, this neighborhood only has a couple of dozen homes on a few acres. The land around the homes has walking paths and even an area the people from the community have set up for fishing on the Big Darby Creek.

View

You’ll appreciate the view from your back deck. Enjoy being surrounded by mature trees while looking down on the creek below as you sip your morning coffee or fire up the grill in the evening. In this quaint little community, you will feel a sense of seclusion and privacy.

Open Plan

This is usually at the top of the wishlist for buyers for multiple reasons. This open space allows for a perfect way to entertain with the kitchen/living room layout, arrange furniture, or even add an additional bedroom if needed.

What You Need To Know

This charming cedar and stucco cabin-like home is sure to give you a cozy and relaxed vibe.

Follow the pathway up from the private drive and step inside.

Don't let looks deceive you though! What looks like a little cabin on the outside is actually a nice, open floor plan inside.

Interior

Once inside, you will see the open living area with a wood-burning stove, perfect for those cold winter nights.

The outdoor look continues inside with the wood detail on some of the walls and high ceiling.

The kitchen is to your left and it is open to the living room. You have plenty of counter space and built-in shelving, along with space for a few wine bottles.

Skylights have been added to let in the natural light during the day and let you feel like you are camping under the stars at night.

Your bedroom is just beyond the living area. It is a large room connected to the spacious bathroom.

Again, you will enjoy the little details taken into consideration once you see the door for the “outhouse“ [don’t worry it’s really an "inhouse"] 😉.

This area is also where your laundry room and closet are located so no lugging baskets up and down the basement stairs.

The home has another open area next to this bedroom, and with a couple of walls, it could be converted into a second bedroom for the home.

Exterior

Outside, you have a nice deck with a great view. You will feel as if you’re sitting all alone in the middle of the woods.

When the leaves of the mature trees give way during the fall and winter months, you'll be able to see all the way down to Big Darby Creek.

A fire pit is already in place for you to sit around and roast marshmallows at night.

There is another small patio area close to the door from the walkout basement.

This home will be the perfect nature retreat for the ultimate outdoorsy type or someone looking for the calm and serenity that comes from being surrounded by nature.
